I chose these songs specifically because it goes from an aggressive/sad tone to an upbeat tone over the course of the playlist. I chose Won’t Back Down because they talk about they will let nothing stop them from getting to the top, which helps me try to strive for the best. He says,”How do you feel about knowing that your disposable?” This line means that he is “indispossable” because his raps aren’t just about sex, alcohol, and drugs like most other rappers so people “turn his music up”because it is unique. This helps me strive to be unique so no one can just take my spot.
Second, I chose Viva La Vida by Coldplay because it talks about how a king lost everything. This helps me remember that one minute you can have everything and he next you could lost it all.Just goes to show you that you can never take anything for granted.
Third, I chose Marc Goone-Hunger because it also talks about how he wants to get claim everything for himself while he’s competeing with a lot of other rappers. Not only that, but he’s not gonna stop until he gets what he wants and where he wants to be to. I listen to this because this song talks about striving to be who you want to be.
Fourthly, I chose Wavin’ Flag by K’naan because he is talking about growing up in not-the-best neighbourhood/country, but still becoming a star. He encourages kids to be one of the people in this world that helps make the world a better world, and to help others/ become a leader.”Try to control us, but they couldn’t hold us, cause we just move forward like buffalo soldiers” This line means that no one can label you or tell you who you are. You are the only one who can define yourself.
Lastly, I chose the Pokemon theme song which is not only is it the best song in the universe, but it talks about “being the very best there ever was” not only at Pokemon, but at everything else in life and that you need friendship and hard work to get somewhere. It also talks about how you can’t get everything done by yourself. “Come with me, the time is right, with courage I will face,” Means that when you have friendship, anything is possible.
"Everytime you fall it’s only making your chin strong"
This quote, quite possibly my favorite line in this song, uses synecdoche, which means “A figure of speech in which a part is made to represent the whole or vice versa.” This line isn’t only talking about a boxer getting slugged in the face and falling on his chin literally. It means that a “fighter” takes his failures and uses them to make himself not fail repeatedly.
1) I love this song because the noise level goes from low to high as the song progresses. This makes me feel like Im being “lifted up”. Also the beat has a powerful beat.
2) I believe that I am addicted to this song because I always put this song on repeat, downloaded it on my iPod, and I listen to this whilist doing my homework.
3) I think whenever I look up at the night-time sky, or at the moon, for some reason I think of this song. I feel like I’ve always listened to this song.
1) I love this song because it makes me feel like I am being “lifted up” while the noise level rises. The beat makes me feel like Im in a race and Im about to cross a finish line.
2) I believe that I am addicted to this because I downloaded it on my iPod and I have this on my playlist for doing homework.
3) I think whenever I am about to finish something important, I think of this song.
One of my favorite Romanticist paintings is ‘Night’ by Roman Velichko. He uses a lot of smooth colours to make the sunset sky, ocean and land. I also like the way he made the night look like the sky was a glass of water and the night was black food colouring that was invading the sunset. The night is invading and corrupting the day and the day seems to be expressing with her eyes,”Goodbye”. I also see a small boat in the distance, and compared to the rest of the painting, the artist might be saying that nature is powerful and majestic while humans are tiny and feeble. All the colours beside black in this painting are all smooth and peaceful, and the night is aggressive and invading. This painting makes me feel like the night is like a thief and it takes away the sun’s light.
Pop art is a relatively modern for of art that is significant to mass media. In the 1950’s, a group of artists based their work on famous people, movies, news, and advertisements. The most well-known “Pop Artist” was Andy Warhol for his “Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup” and a portrait of Marilyn Monroe. I believe that the core value of Pop Art is freedom and how simple art can be. A massed produced can of soup can be considered art was going against what other artists of the past did.
I see 3 gumball machines on a white shelf in front of a white wall. The gumball machines are all casting shadows and there are many colors of gumballs in the machine. The painting is also semetrical.
Romanticism is a type of art that expresses drama, human emotion, and/or can portray a statement. In these types of paintings, human emotion is expressed to make a statement, whether it is about nature, technology, society, or even daily life as we know it.
This painting seems to be taking place in autumn in a wooded area. There are many different color leaves scattered around the ground of the painting. The ground seems to be black and smooth and reflects some of the light. Near the outer edges of the painting, there are large trees that are casting shadows, and the sun (dusk or dawn) is shining through the leaves. Lastly, I see two shadowy, human-like figures. The taller figure, is putting his arm around the smaller figure who is wearing a sort of long skirt.
I believe that Romanticism is like a story that you make the ending for. These types of paintings give you the opportunity to make a backstory, and allow you to make your own decisions.
Probably the most important values in Ancient Greek art is the beauty and adoration towards their gods and towards the human body. They focus on the look and angle of the body. They intentionally carve out mens abs to make them look “perfect”. The also make the mens arm look muscular and the face very serious. Lastly, they made their sculptures out of bronze so when they went to war, they had to melt it down to create weapons. THis is why when the Romans went to Greece, they made copies of the once bronze statues and used marble or other materials.
The main idea that the Egyptians tried to implement in their artworks is the thought f immortality. They even went as far to sculpt their statues of granite and other hard materials so they could last for centuries. The function of Egyptian art was for ritual. The Ancient Egyptians used to paint entire stories inside temples to commemorate the dead kings and queens of the past.
In this painting, I see many nude figures that seem to resemble humans. The surrounding area is drenched in fire and lava and spikes. The humans are cowering fear of something. The painting is mostly red, so it gives a sinister feeling. On one of the mountains, there is a face that seems disgusted and is deformed. Many of the humans are in agonizing pain. The only object that seems to stand out from everything else is the white bell in the middle.
This painting is a deception of one of the several circles of Hell. Since its main color is red, it gives off a sinister look and looks like the walls and floors are painted in blood. There is an angel oddly enough in this painting, and its seems like it is angry. Lastly, the face on the hill is one of the “Gatekeepers” of Hell, who’s sole purpose is to make sure no one escapes and that everyones suffers for their sins for eternity.
I see a man who seems to be crossing a frozen body of water on a boat with several other men with him. The very little land that surrounds him seems to be a snowy field. The people who are rowing the boat seem to be working strenously to get to shore. The men are fully clothed, armed with guns(muskets and rifles) and swords (lances). There are horseys on one of the boats aswell. The sun is shining bright behing the man and his crew. Lastly, there is a flag that is being held up.
This man is George Washington, the first President of the United States of America. He is crossing the Delaware River. He is filled with pride and is extending his chest to make him seem buff. Along with him are rebel soldiers that are willing to give their lives for their freedom from the Redcoats (Brits).
